Proud of her Maharashtrian roots, DJ Megha Kawale is set to release her first album with an Indian touch

Voted as one of the 100 most beautiful women in India. DJ Megha Kawale, with an international reputation is also one of the most sought after models in the country. She is all set to release her music album, in India under her own label Mulgee. Currently under production, the album is inspired by her Maharashtrian roots.

The 31-year-old says she is a true Marathi mulgee (girl). Born and brought up at Alibaug, Megha is known internationally and plays in several clubs abroad. “I decided to name my label Mulgee because I think the name specifies who I am. I am Maharashtrian mulgee—that is what people call a girl in Marathi. The word completely signifies my roots and I am proud to be a Maharashtrian,” she says.

The album is due to be released in September, she is still undecided about its name. She is still weighing her options based on the options suggested by her friends.

“Producing an album is a tiresome and energy consuming job, but I am already enjoying the journey,” she says. “The album consists of progressive music with an Indian touch. I decided to give it an Indian touch because the blend of Indian instruments with a bit if western gives an amazing melody. The combination is just so fascinating that I want people to enjoy it,” says the DJ.

Sharing a very close incident she says, “When I showcased a part of upcoming music album to some of my French DJ friends, they where completely overwhelmed. The response that I received from them was fascinating and they suggested me to carry out the mixing and mastering of the music in Paris. This I think was the best thing to happen for the album, because Paris is the best place for mixing music. I was thoroughly excited by the thought and am looking forward to it.”

Megha is anxiously awaiting the release of her album and responses from the people.
