Megha Kawale tells a story of courage, conduct and conviction. Filled with passion, she lives her life to the fullest, with her head firm above her shoulders and her heart wide open to possibilities. She is the epitome of the new breed of strong and successful women today, who work hard and party harder!

Born in a traditional Maharashtrian family, megha believes in simple family values. She is thankful for the love and support of her dear ones, and gratefully reveals their lion share in making her the person she is today. “My parents have never set foot in a night club. But they respect what I do and support me unconditionally. My friends too, adore me, but never treat me like a star. In spite of all the success I have seen, my loved ones are the reasons why I am well grounded.” She says honestly, “Fame was never an agenda for me. Even as a young girl, I was never dreamer. I worked hard to be where I am and everything else simply follwed.”

For someone with talent like Megha, it is safe to assume that music is an in-born talent. It only goes to say that she has a unique way of making everyone dance to her tunes, literally. “God has been kind to me,” she accepts modestly,”I was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time. Practice and training are the key factors. With fame, come the expectations. And it’s only when they are met and exceeded time and again, do you see real success.” When it comes to her work, Megha finds a distinctive ways of merging her body and soul to work as one. She finds ways to meet the set standards and on receiving the grand applause she does from her audience, she often raises the bar for her own self. “It’s a great high- the power, the energy, the crowd! The real kick is in controlling them with your music. In January this year, I was playing at the World Economic Forum in Geneva. Even the elitist head honchos shed their corporate image and swayed to my popular Bollywood tracks. Last month, I played at an event in Bali, I could actually look down at the revelry and dance floor from my console. It doubled my energy to take it up a notch!”

The Indian music industry is dominated by Bollywood music because of its popularity and reach. While the basic remains the same, the cover changes all the time. “It’s important to keep abreast with the trend. There is a lot I have yet to contribute to the industry. And I am taking baby steps. I have got into producing music, just a matter of time before I unveil it.” Music like most other artistic professions is not free of emotions. And on the journey to the top, one can find oneself in the need of inspiration. “I have a different music list for every mood. I listen to various types of music, sometimes to calm me down, sometimes to cheer me up. I personally love listening to U2, they always put me in a fabulous state of mind.” An other major aspect of being a sort after celebrity like DJ Megha, is the extensive traveling. “Exotic destinations, plush venues, intresting people, cultures and food! I am more open minded and evolved because of my travels. I have some fabulous friends in every country. I feel like I am a global citizen!”

 Apart from the music industry, Megha has seen distinction follow her in all her ventures. Femina India named her as one of the hundred most beautiful women. Surprised and happy, Megha, finds herself humbled by this honour. “As a deejay I am extremely confident and driven, but as a super model, I am like a cat on the move, very sexy ,” she laughs and continues, “On a serious note, modeling is a lot of hard work and even more traveling”. The fashion industry is one of the most misunderstood professions today. With respect to the current affairs that have made headlines, it also is an easy target to presumptions. “Nothing in life is easy, the fashion industry is no different; how you handle the struggle is subjective. I have been a very integral part of the fashion industry, and it has its ups and downs and you have to deal with them exactly as you deal with your life in general. Everyone works hard so I don’t think fashion industry should be criticized so heavily just because its showbiz!”

 In between the music, the modeling and the madness there in, Megha finds her own ways of staying happy and content. Fitness is a very important part of her being, and she takes it very seriously.

 Through the layers of achievements and accomplishments, it can clearly be seen that, Megha is a simple woman with simpler philosophies. “Good vibrations and energy are the key ingredients of life. Beauty will fade away with time but your soul will be beautiful forever.” She concludes, “After flying all around the world and the erratic craziness of my life, I know when I come home I have a family that loves me and looks after me. That for me is my definition.”
