Every year there are a few resolutions I make when it comes to travelling and pushing boundaries. Due to my work, I literally get to travel the globe, but the countries I have missed out on, have always been on my holiday agenda.
I am a total nature addict and had heard that New Zealand is a nature's paradise. So I made up my mind to travel to the place. With some help from my friends, I finally managed my holiday! I had heard about the spa at
Roturua and I had quickly put it up on my itinerary I knew that it was rated as the top 10 spas in the world and so I was very inquisitive. You can say I am a spa addict, but it's a sort of a necessity with my crazy lifestyle.
For me, spa and luxury go hand in hand so when I visited the natural spa, it was a big surprise for me. I had expected it to be tucked with a feel of super luxury but it turned out to be just the opposite. It is located in the flora overlooking the Roturua lake with its natural mineral hotwater springs. It is very simple and rustic in nature and the openness gives you the feeling of being one with nature.
This spa gives luxury a new meaning. It's the basics of life that are a
luxury in today's world and seeing the
breathtaking view of the hot springs
in the Roturua lake, while relaxing in
the hot water pools, the feeling was
truly amazing.
I had booked my therapy a month in advance. it works better when it's planned! I took the honey body polish and massage and then spent a few hours in the many hot mineral pools; ate at the cute resto in the spa and spent the whole day relaxing and pampering myself, watching the beautiful view of the lake. The massage and the hot mineral pools totally got rid of my travel exhaustion and totally rejuvenated me.
The difference that I found in the spa there and the ones in India is that here, it's about superficial luxury. It's all man-made whereas there, it's the natural stuff.
Now after Roturua, I want to go to the Ananda spa next which is at the foothills of the beautiful Himalayas. I have heard that it's a spa meant for the body and soul, spiritual healing in the lap of nature with luxury! I have also heard beautiful stories about Rishikesh and want to soak in the total experience there.
'My spa trips depend
on how hectic my
life has been —
which most of the
time is quite chaotic!
So, as and when I
feel the need, I take
a spa holiday'
